Fully-funded 3-year PhD studentship in science communication
.The Open University, one of the UK’s leading research institutions, is offering a fully-funded three-year PhD studentship in the field of science communication, specifically to study the promotion of the Large Hadron Collider at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN).
The project will explore and evaluate communication associated with the start-up of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) over a six-year period, including communication produced by media professionals and citizen scientists. It is envisaged that the research undertaken within this studentship will contribute to debates about digital scholarship, public engagement and science communication, making valuable contributions to these related fields in terms of both theory and practice.
You can contact Richard Holliman to get initial information or to discuss the breadth and scope of your proposal for the studentship.
The closing date for the applications is 24 February 2012 and applicants should be available to start the studentship on or before 1 June 2012.
